Remembering Bob. I have known him since Mrs. Montgomery's kindergarten at North Ward. He marched to a different drummer. Bob had a social conscience, and was very concerned about the Vietnam War long before the rest of us had a clue. Teachers were always confiscating the love beads he wore in 9th grade. This brought about one of my favorite episodes when Mrs Ashton brought in her flapper beads from when she was young, and they went down to her knees! Bob loved John Irving novels, and always had something interesting to talk about whenever we met.
